Per , the French are looking for a head coach ahead of the 2024-25 season after Will Still left the club on mutual consent earlier in May. They have identified Ancelotti's son as a primary managerial target and will accelerate their negotiations in the coming weeks.

The 34-year-old has served as an assistant coach to his father since 2016 when the legendary manager joined Bayern Munich. He later worked at Napoli and Everton before joining Real Madrid in 2021. Davide has held managerial ambitions for long, but rejected an offer from the Saudi Pro League in January.
