The England international winger has been frozen out of the first-team picture at Old Trafford by Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag. He has not figured for the Premier League giants since August and has been forced to work away from the rest of the senior squad at the club’s Carrington training base after an outburst on social media.

A move in the January transfer window was always expected to be sanctioned, with the opportunity to retrace steps to Dortmund presenting itself. Initial reports suggested that a short-term deal, which would be worth around £2.6 million, would be pushed through during a winter training camp for BVB.

However, reports that Sancho saw a flight to Spain cancelled at the last minute on Friday, with claiming that there are still a number of issues to be ironed out before an agreement can be completed.

WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?
A return to Germany for Sancho is still expected to go ahead, but the says discussions remain ongoing. There is no purchase option attached to the loan transfer, with the 23-year-old forward having left Dortmund for Manchester in a £75 million ($95m) package during the summer of 2021.
