Superhero television show The Boys has returned to screens with a new fourth series that has fans talking football on social media. Eagle-eyed supporters have managed to spot a host of star names from all over the world in the set design, suggesting that some staff on The Boys are serious football fans. Superstar names such as USMNT forward Pulisic, Spain legend Sergio Busquets and England talisman Saka appear along with apparent references to lesser lights including Ireland's Sammie Szmodics, Wales stars Chris Mepham and Will Vaulks and even Sheffield United's Oli McBurnie.

USMNT stars such as Gio Reyna and Yunus Musah appear to be referenced along with England players Ivan Toney, Ben Chilwell and Jordan Pickford. Close inspection also reveals a fondness for Italy legends Marco Verratti and Ciro Immobile, Spain stars Sergi Roberto, Dani Olmo and Marco Asensio as well as NY Red Bulls attacker Emil Forsberg. There's also a mention for Ireland's Jayson Molumby and Festy Ebosele as well as Mexico legend Jared Borgetti.

The Boys star Jack Quaid has declared himself a lifelong fan of Brazilian side Palmeiras after the cast took a trip to the club to watch the team in Copa Libertadoes action.
